A descent into the maelstrom...

While working on my Descanso project, I found this cryptic message near a memorial:  “Google the Taino Massacre.”  So, I did.

I’m trying to figure out why this message would be pasted on the side of a highway in northern New Mexico.  The only thing I can think of is that someone in my hometown doesn’t know the difference between Espanola and Hispaniola.
